Brian Matos is a United States Marine Corps Veteran and recently retired from a North Texas Law Enforcement Agency after 21+ years in Law Enforcement. He was assigned to a Narcotics Task Force for several years and served on the SWAT Team for 18+ years. Brian also has training and experience from a Private Security Agency which has held numerous contracts with the U.S. State Department. Brian served as a firearms instructor for his Law Enforcement Agency and also serves as a firearms instructor for Regional Police Academies in North Texas.

This course will focus on the shooting and handling of a handgun in relation to its real-world application for Law Enforcement and other Units in a tactical environment. This course includes problem solving, decision making, target discrimination and communication while engaging targets out to 25 yards.  This course will cover many aspects on employing your handgun in a tactical / hostile environment while engaging targets out to 25 yards.  There will be a Performance Evaluation that has to be passed prior to completing this course.  (Be prepared for a 10-12 hour training day)

Tactical Handgun-Night Operations

This course will cover many aspects on employing your handgun in a tactical / hostile environment while engaging targets out to 25 yards under the cover of darkness.  It will also cover problem solving, decision making, target discrimination and communication. Basic Patrol Rifle

Description: (Rifle and Handgun / 3-day)
This course will teach and provide you with the basic skills needed to understand, operate and efficiently deploy a patrol rifle in a real-world application for law enforcement. Day 1-2 will strictly be used to focus on the patrol rifle. You will learn the nomenclature, breakdown, zeros, fundamentals of marksmanship, reload, malfunctions, cleaning etc. Day 3 will incorporate the use of the rifle and pistol as it would be used in real-world application for law enforcement.It will also cover problem solving, decision making, target discrimination and communication. There will be a performance evaluation and qualification course of fire that must be passed prior to completing this course. (Be prepared for a 8-10 hour training days).

This course will focus on the shooting and handling of a handgun in relation to its real-world applications for Law Enforcement and other specialized units in a tactical / hostile environment.  This course consists of worst-case scenario-based training and real-world application of skills.  This course will be physically and mentally demanding so come prepared.  It will also cover problem solving, decision making, target discrimination and communication. This course will also include force on force scenarios. If there are any cracks in your game (firearms, fitness or tactics) you will find out what they are here. There will be a performance evaluation that must be passed prior to completing this course.(Be prepared to train 10-12 hours each day)

Tactical Medical-Emergency Operations I

DESCRIPTION: (Handgun Only / 2-day)
This course is for the law enforcement officer. It is designed to define a Medical Threat Assessment and devise a medical plan for tactical environments. The students will learn techniques and how to apply them to control life threatening bleeding during Care Under Fire (Hot Zone) and techniques to treat injuries during Tactical Field Care (Warm Zone).  Students will also learn techniques to move and extricate victim(s) from a hostile environment during Tactical Evacuation Care (Cool Zone). This 2-day course is based on TCCC and will consist of lecture, classroom and practicals. It will also include scenario-based training on a range, which will cover the shooting and handling of a handgun in relation to its real-world applications for Law Enforcement in a tactical/hostile environment.  It will also cover problem solving, decision making, target discrimination and communication. The course will be moderately physical and very mentally demanding so come prepared.  Don’t get stuck in a situation where you don’t know how to save your own life or the life of another.  There will be a performance evaluation that must be passed prior to completing this course. Be prepared for a 10-12 hours training day)

Tactical Medical-Emergency Operations II (Night Ops)

DESCRIPTION: (Handgun Only / 1-day)
This course will review knowledge and skills necessary to prevent the loss of their life or the life of another while in a hostile or tactical environment (Covered in Tactical Medical- Emergency Operations I).  The skills will address treating life-threatening injuries at night in an austere environment with limited equipment, lack of medically trained personnel and prolonged time to evacuation or rescue. The student will also learn the importance of the fundamentals of marksmanship during high stress tactical medical scenarios in a nighttime environment, including the use of Weapon Mounted Lights and Handheld Lights.  It will also cover problem solving, decision making, target discrimination and communication. There will be a performance evaluation that must be passed prior to completing this course. (Be prepared for a 10-12 hour training day)

Vehicle Combatives

DESCRIPTION: (Handgun Only / 2-day)
For law enforcement many shootings occur in and around vehicles and it is very common occurrence. This course focuses on different aspects on how to fight from in and around vehicles during armed engagements. This course will cover ballistic performance on motor vehicles using live demonstrations. Vehicle Combatives involves scenario-based training to include force on force and medical type scenarios, which will cover the shooting and handling of a weapon in relation to its real-world application. It will also cover problem solving, decision making, target discrimination and communication. Training days will be moderately physical and very mentally demanding with a high focus on problem solving.  There will be a performance evaluation that must be passed prior to completing this course. This is not a beginners course. (Be prepared for a 10-12 hour training day)

Pistol RDS (Red Dot Sight) Fundamentals

DESCRIPTION: (Handgun w/RDS / 2-day)
This course will provide the student with the skills needed to transition from using pistol iron sights to the RDS for both law enforcement and civilians for self-defense. If already using an RDS it will sharpen your skills to be more efficient in the use of a pistol RDS. This course will cover zeroing, how to stop fishing for the dot, the fundamentals of marksmanship utilizing the RDS, speed of draw & presentation, dot tracking, how to stop over confirming the dot, target transitions (multiple target engagement), shooting on the move, how to deal with an occluded, broken or RDS blockage.  (Be prepared for 8-10 hour training days)

Building Search for Law Enforcement

DESCRIPTION: (Handgun-NO LIVE WEAPONS / Force-on-Force / 1-day)
This course is geared toward the Patrol Officer and other units not including specialized units (SWAT, SRT, HRT ect.). This course focuses on the basic building search techniques needed for successful building searches by Law Enforcement Officers. Due to the number of open doors, alarms, forced entries by suspects (residential / business) that officers encounter on an everyday basis this course will ensure the officer knows and understands the concepts of building searches, learn different techniques and also understand the “Game of Angles”. The last time most officers had any building search training was in police academy. This is a main reason why we offer this course. This course includes Force on Force scenarios. Training Firearms (Airsoft / Sims) will be provided. Training days will be mentally demanding with a high focus on problem solving.  (Be prepared for a 8-10 hour training day)
